Talks Occur Amid Corruption Scandal in Ukraine

But the talks are happening during a tricky time for Kyiv, as Zelenskyy had to move to address rising popular anger in Ukraine regarding a corruption scandal in the power industry, dismissing several officials allegedly involved in involvement in a large-scale bribery scheme.

“Naturally, Ukraine will have to persistently focus with improvements, reinforcing all parts of their society [and] including anti-corruption … but it is clear that there’s a strong European support with Kyiv,” she stated.
