The second-hand marketplace Users Express Displeasure About Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all users about the change.
Digital Channels Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Modifications
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Accounts
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
