Week six of the 2025 NFL season

Real-time updates features text commentary for Sunday's games via multiple platforms, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, audio coverage is available on select stations for another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).

We're in the sixth week of the NFL season , following last week's talk regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as possible championship contenders, they both lost their unbeaten records.

Notable in those games were the amount of infractions each committed. The Eagles committed them at crucial times meaning they kind of beat themselves after leading by two touchdowns going into the fourth period versus Denver, set to play overseas this weekend.

But it proved good to see how Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to have that deficit and then direct three successful possessions on three possessions during the final period, securing the victory by four points.

Denver boast the top defender with CB Pat Surtain II. They are first in red zone defence, while Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, and the Broncos prevailed in that contest.

They had the Eagles' number in terms of disguised blitzes. They weren't always sending extra defenders instead they might position two LBs in the interior before drop them out and send a nickel from the outside.

Early on of the season, we said on a program how Denver could be the current year's surprise contenders. They finished the previous year well and did a good job of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?

Recently acquired tight end Evan Engram has excelled big while new running back JK Dobbins is a player the team trusts. He's currently 5th league-wide in ground gains (402) as well as tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

It's impressive how the coach the Broncos' leader has "RUN IT!" prominently on his call sheet.

That shows that Denver are a squad aiming to run first, since one can achieve much off the back of that. It slows down the pass rush and keeps you in favourable down and distances.

It's also benefited quarterback Bo Nix, who entered into the league as a first-round selection last year, passing for 29 TDs – just behind a star QB in rookie records (31 in 2020).

Other elite QBs have the arm strength to throw all over, however they don't move the mobility that Nix has. He has incredible arm talent, a unique trait, plus he's highly agile.

His strengths are his movement, being able to throw on the run, as well as using varied release points to deliver the pass when he rolls out of the pocket, on rollouts. He can throw that layered pass across the middle or past defenders.

For a young quarterback, at 25, he's got great composure under pressure and isn't bothered by extra rushers. He aims to avoid a sack whenever possible and can throw under pressure. He has sharp intelligence and remains very decisive.

If you constantly run the ball it eats up the clock and forces the defence to be on the field for longer, and when you've got an athletic quarterback the defence must cover the field vertically side to side. It can be exhausting.

The quarterback has pushed back at Payton during games at times and I think Payton likes that fire, that he's a fierce rival. I think it's fun for the coach to coach a young quarterback that is similar to play-dough. The coach can truly develop him the way he desires to build it. I believe it's a special experience for the coach.

Payton owns a championship and has surpassed a legend for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. I think the success Denver are having offensively is mostly down to his guidance, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the combination with Nix aids make him into who he is.

You wouldn't want a better guy in your ear, to help you through some of the tougher situations and build confidence.

I believe in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But are they strong enough to go against a top squad at full strength? Since that was not championship-level play by the Eagles in their last game.

Currently, I don't think Denver are elite. They're working above average, that's a good place to be in the AFC West. All they need to do to continue this path.

They're really good at leaning into their strength, that is running the ball, and that's exactly what they must do versus the Jets in London. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.

The Jets have surrendered 140 yards on the ground per game (sixth worst), five ground scores so far (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team without a win any game.

Ever since the NFL began tracking takeaways decades ago, the Jets are also the first team to be without any turnovers through five games, which is kind of shocking considering that their new coach was previously a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.

The Chiefs' QB stated the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' following Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.

After the upcoming matchup, Denver have a smooth-ish schedule until their bye (in week 12) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans plus the Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.

In their division, the Chiefs are 2-3 and the Broncos are even with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could challenge for the top of the West.

It depends upon which form of the Chiefs they meet since Denver {beat|def
